Of two hearts with a clock on their wings...
...appropriate lore has been embroidered in modern times to portray Valentine as a priest who refused an unattested law attributed to Roman Emperor Claudius II, allegedly ordering that young men remain single.
The Emperor supposedly did this to grow his army, believing that married men did not make for good soldiers. The priest Valentine, however, secretly performed marriage ceremonies for young men.
When Claudius found out about this, he had Valentine arrested and thrown in jail. In an embellishment to The Golden Legend, on the evening before Valentine was to be executed, he wrote the first "valentine" himself, addressed to a young girl variously identified as his beloved, as the jailer's daughter whom he had befriended and healed, or both.
It was a note that read, "From your Valentine."- source Wikipedia
Should I had asked...
What is this day to you?
I'm sure we can categorize the answers to those given by people who have yet to love, people who have met love and people who had loved.
There is no good or bad, right or wrong answers...just people with different opinions and experience. As for me, not too long ago... Vday was just like any other day. A day for other people to be happy about.
14th February 2009 - And with each moment, as each surprise unfolds, i came to understand just how far a person is willing to go, just how much he is willing to do to show, to reassure, the extent of his love and dedication.
Valentine's day is not special by itself, it is made special by the people who appreciate it.
It is only significant when you have the chance to cherish it.
Love isn't always measured in the amount of gifts, the name of places or the distance traveled...
It is sometimes, simply, felt between steady heartbeats and the whispered words of, "I LOVE YOU, WITH ALL MY HEART" that only you can hear, when you hold his hand and lean close to his heart.
Hoe, thank you for giving me an unforgettable 1st Valentine's Day.
